Kitchen Tables
The kitchen table. Just think of what takes place around the kitchen table.
So many conversations, silences, shared moments take place around the kitchen table. Quality and I am sure not so quality family time.
It seems to be the meeting place of most families. Babies in baby seats were kept happy on top of the kitchen table. Announcements that babies were coming takes place at the kitchen table. Newspapers read over numerous cups of coffee at the kitchen table.
Some families have dinner every night at the dining room table while others save the dining room for special dinners and eat a lot of meals at the kitchen table.
There used to be a grocery store near our house called the kitchen table. Maybe there still is, we don't live there any more. What a great name for a grocery store.
The kitchen table that we had when I was growing up was a wood table with wood chairs. I can still hear the noise the chairs made as we pulled them up or pushed them away from the kitchen table.
Some kitchens are not large enough to hold a kitchen table. I wonder where "life" takes place in those families because I know that so much went on around our kitchen table.
Babies were made after nights around the kitchen table. Letters were written and read around the kitchen table. Big decisions and late night talks took place at the kitchen table.
There was something comforting about the kitchen table. It was a casual gathering place, unlike the dining room table. You could slouch in your chair and maybe even get away with a burp at the kitchen table.
Cards were played at the kitchen table, and late night snacks were devoured at the kitchen table.
