Toaster Ovens
The toaster oven can do many things beside toast. It is the perfect size if you are only cooking for one person and don't want to use the big oven.
The booklet that comes with the toaster oven is really helpful. It gives you a lot of good ideas to try in your toaster oven.
If you have a frozen TV dinner to cook and you are just making one, why put on the big oven and use up the electricity when you can pop it in your toaster oven.
It does toast things as well, so you could even give up using your toaster is you wanted to.
The toaster oven heats things up quickly, takes up little space on your counter and is easy to clean. If you are doing baked potatoes for 10, it's not very helpful but if you are doing 1 or 2, it is perfect.
Toaster ovens are in the same section as the toasters in the stores. I wonder if people realize what the toaster oven can do for them. Are they confused because it is called a toaster oven? Do they realize they can cook lots of things in the same amount of time (maybe less) then in their big oven?
I don't know how much electricity we use when we bake in our ovens, but I would imagine if you used the toaster oven often, it would make a big difference.
The toaster oven is great for broiling something that you put on top of toast or a bagel for example. Tuna and cheddar cheese on a bagel, under the broiler in the toaster oven makes for a great sandwich. How about a baked potato with melted cheddar or swiss cheese on it? Delicious.
The toaster oven is a good wedding gift. It is not to expensive and may not be something the happy couple thinks to put on their list, but I think they will appreciate it and use it more and more as they realize what they can do with it.
