Stools
I went to church this morning. I must admit, I do not go very often.
The church service was called a contemporary service. There was a five piece jazz band playing. They were perched on stools at the front of the church playing great jazz.
I was really pleasantly surprised to see this. Apparently there is another service that follows this one that is a more traditional service. I don’t think any jazz players will be perched on stools playing at the traditional service. I guess the organist will be on his or her stool playing lovely music for all to enjoy.
The Minister who ran the service was very interesting. He was perched on a stool at the front of the church as he spoke to us. I found it very interesting to see him casually perched on a stool speaking to the congregation. I can only think that he was relaxing and offering a more casual feeling at a more casual contemporary service.
I have to think that the stool he sat on was part of the message he was trying to give. A contemporary, relaxed at ease feeling.
The choir was very upbeat and sang in a contemporary fashion, for a Sunday morning church service. I was waiting for each choir member to pull up a stool and have a seat before they started to sing.
Maybe I am reading too much into the stool thing but I have never been to a church service before and seen so many people casually perching on a stool. I would have expected the Minister to be standing as he delivered his message to the congregation.
This is not to say that I have anything against a Minister sitting on a stool while he talks to people. It was just different, that’s all.
