Foyer Lighting
Foyer lighting: making the right impression
When guests walk into your home, the first thing they see is your foyer. So foyer lighting makes a big first impression. A bare light bulb in your foyer is a sure sign that you don’t care about your surroundings. Elegant foyer lighting, however, immediately announces your pride in home ownership.
Whether your foyer is a grand two-story hall or a cozy and rustic entranceway, foyer lighting is available to accentuate its function. Foyer lighting invites entry and guides guests to their destination. Lighting your foyer needn’t be expensive; as with so many other home improvements, effective foyer lighting can be accomplished cheaply with a little imagination.
Choosing the right foyer lighting
If you have a large, high-ceiling foyer, it’s a chandelier you’re looking for. In choosing a chandelier for foyer lighting, a rule of thumb is this: the width of your chandelier lighting your foyer should be one inch per each foot of foyer width, measured diagonally. The height of your foyer lighting chandelier should be about three inches per foot of room height, up to thirty inches. Of course, these are just guidelines: choose the foyer lighting that looks best to you.
Foyer lighting can also be accomplished with table lamps and wall lights, especially when lighting smaller foyers or accompanying a chandelier. So when choosing foyer lighting, keep an open mind. You’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish with the right foyer lighting.
