Exercise Balls
The exercise ball is a great piece of equipment to use when you are working out. It comes in different sizes so that you can do different things with it.
I often see people trying to balance on top of the exercise ball while holding light weights in their hands. You need a great sense of balance to do this.
I like to lie on the floor on my back and put my calves up on the ball. Then I do some sit ups. It really gets the abs going.
A good exercise to do with an exercise ball is a push up. You put your feet up on the ball and into a push up position and do your push ups. It involves balance and strength.
I have been to an exercise class that used the exercise ball the entire time.
It was an amazing work out. I didn't know there was enough to do with an exercise ball to keep you busy for an hour.
I like to put the ball behind the small of my back against a wall and then do squats. It is a real burn on the thighs and I like to lift weights at the same time. I try to keep the abs tight and a little pelvic tilt and I know I am working hard.
You can get a great stretch on the exercise ball. If you have a back problem ask the person who works in the gym to make sure you are doing things correctly. The last thing you want to do is injure your back further.
The exercise ball is a great way to improve your balance. We have a couple of NHL hockey players who workout at the gym where I work out and they stand on the ball and do small squats. Impossible for this girl to do but fun to try.
