Buy a nice copper set and these too can act as fireplace accessories to brighten up the area surrounding the fire. Do not buy plastic fireplace accessories as they will melt.
Some fireplace areas are disgustingly dirty. To divert the attention of visitors from this, it is best to absolutely clutter your fireplace, fireplace mantel and surrounding areas with all manner of fireplace accessories. Strategically place your fireplace accessories and your guests will never suspect the filth and rot that hides around your fireplace. Astound your friends with your amazing taste and dazzle them with fireplace accessories that will make them envy you. Even if they do not like your fireplace accessories, most people are too polite to tell you how tacky, ugly and cheap they look.
Fireplace accessories are to fireplaces what belts are to trousers: not really essential but rather a good idea nonetheless.
