Deck Design
When deciding on the type of deck you are going to build, the first step is your deck design. There is so much to think about. I guess one of the first things to decide is what size of a deck you want.
Many deck designs have 2 levels. The level you walk out onto from the door, and then the lower level which is usually a couple of steps down.
This type of design adds interest to your deck.
Deck design can be drawn out on a computer. I have seen people at do- it-yourself home stores working at the computer coming up with their deck design. It is amazing what can be done on a computer these days.
Not only does it come up with the exact drawings for your deck, it also tells you exactly what materials you will need to complete it.
There are tradesmen that specialize in deck design if you prefer to hire someone to do it for you. That way you can sit with someone in the comfort of your own home and plan out exactly what you have in mind and let them share their opinions with you from their experiences.
Deck design can go from a very simple deck to a very elaborate deck with custom lattice, flower boxes, benches and trellises. Once the preliminary deck design is complete, a final look and last minute changes take place. It is fun to be part of the deck design and then watch it take shape as they start to build it. One nice thing about deck design is that it is not really disruptive to the house you are living in. It is not like a renovation inside of your house where things are messy and annoying to live with.
Once the deck is complete, you can christen it with a deck party. A good deck design can't be beat. You will spend many enjoyable hours on it.
