Christmas
Christmas…the most wonderful time of the year. For many it is.
Christmas concerts, Christmas caroling, Christmas plays, Christmas parties, Christmas holidays, Christmas decorations, Christmas gift giving, Christmas baking, Christmas dinner, Christmas Eve, Christmas trees, Christmas carols, Christmas poinsettias, Christmas stockings. Christmas cookies, Christmas cards, Christmas wreaths, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding, Christmas shopping. Are you exhausted yet? For many it is an exhausting time of the year. For others, it is a relaxing joyous time of the year.
Children seem to think Christmas is magical. One day of gift giving, special family times, lots of yummy food and desserts. And of course best of all Santa Clause who magically comes down the chimney and leaves gifts. Many children leave out milk and cookies for Santa and his reindeer to help them on their journey. It is magic, isn't it?
Christmas usually brings family together. It is the one time of the year when we make a big effort to all is together. Many travel a long way to have that special day with their loved ones.
Traditions are established in families that seem to be carried out year after year. Singing of Christmas carols on Christmas Eve, going to a church service Christmas morning, eating the traditional Turkey dinner on Christmas night. These are wonderful memories that many cherish and look forward to every Christmas.
Christmas is a good time of year to help out those who need it. Bake some extra cookies for those who may not be able to, donate a toy or book to the toy drive at the local fire station, make a donation to your local food bank. Give something to someone else and it will make you feel good. The gift of giving. It reminds me of an old a saying which is "it is better to give than to receive".
