Christmas Tree
Oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas Tree….. a familiar start to a Christmas carol we sign every Christmas.
Many gather around the Christmas tree and sign carols together. The lights are twinkling, the decorations are hung and the co is belting out the Christmas tunes for you to sign along to.
The Christmas tree has become a favorite tradition for many. For some, heading out into the field to find the perfect Christmas tree to cut down and bring indoors is exhilarating. The cold wind on your face (unless you live in warm sunny climate in December), maybe a soft snow fall as you wander through the quiet woods, past the rows and rows of Christmas trees.
Many of us remember the famous Charles Schultz story with Charlie Brown. His Christmas tree was not the perfect shape, or a big strong beautiful tree. But to him, his little twig of a tree was the best Christmas tree ever. I guess it's all how you look at life.
The smell of the Christmas tree as it begins to warm up inside is amazing. As the tree warms up and starts to fall you begin to smell that familiar evergreen scent that so many of us relate to.
How about the "fake" Christmas trees. For some, it is the only option because they are allergic to the real Christmas trees. For others, they couldn't be bothered to buy a real Christmas tree every year, or perhaps they aren't that fond of the smell and needles falling on the rug.
They do have to be put together every year unless you have a large enough area to store them without dismantling them.
For some, having the small fake tree is much easier. If you live on your own in an apartment, you can open the box and put up your tree. No hassle of going out and picking out the tree, trucking it all the way home, putting it in the elevator, into the stand and waiting for the branches to fall so you can decorate.
I like doing all that stuff but don't have to worry about the elevator. I live in a house. Long live the Christmas tree. Fake or real.
