Christmas Lights
Christmas lights really make Christmas special. I like putting the lights up outside on December 1st. It's my way of getting into the Christmas spirit. Once you start to see Christmas lights on the houses in the neighborhood, you start to realize that the big day is not to far away.
I used to put all different coloured Christmas lights up. It was what we did when I was a kid so I guess I was carrying on with that memory.
Then the icicle Christmas lights came out and the kids really wanted us to put those up. So we did. I liked them for a couple of season and then decided to change it up again.
I went to all clear Christmas lights which I really like. It is a simple look but looks really pretty. Some people put clear lights up in their backyard and enjoy them in the summer time as well.
The last 2 or 3 years I have gone with clear and red Christmas lights.
I put them over the pine boughs that I hang around the front door of my house. The Christmas lights are red, clear, red, clear, all the way around the door. It looks really pretty.
When we first get out the Christmas lights ofcoarse we have to test them to see if they are all working. It not, I head up to the hardware or drug store and get what I need. Sometimes the red bulbs that I replace are not the exact same colour but who cares. They do the job.
Christmas lights in the city are everywhere. Office buildings put them up in the front of the building in trees, stores put them around their windows and doors, shopping malls hang hugh wreaths with Christmas lights.
Energy conscience people are not to happy with Christmas lights. I can respect that but still indulge. I guess I'm not as worried about conserving energy as some. I do my part in other ways to try and save.
