Tents
Do you remember when you were a kid and you used to make a tent in the living room? I do.
If it was raining out or we were sick of watching TV we would push 2 chairs together and get an old sheet or 2 and drape them over the chairs.
That was it. Instant tent to hide and hang out in. The best part was it was our tent and no adults were allowed.
We would get our sleeping bags or favorite blankets, pillows and stuffed animals and set up our tent. If it was a weekend we would be allowed to fall asleep in it.
Another way that we made tents was with a sheet hung from the top bunk bed down the front to the floor and we would hang out on the bottom bunk.
I do not enjoy sleeping in a tent but I know many who do. As soon as they get to the camp ground they pitch a tent. Then the camping weekend is officially under way.
When we have a lot of people at our cottage we ask people to bring up their tents to sleep in. Lots of people jump at the chance to bring up their tent to sleep in.
On a warm summers night it can be quite enjoyable lying outside in the warm nights air listening to the waves roll up on shore. It can also be really annoying if the bugs get into your tent or if it rains.
The kids love to pitch a tent at my sister's cottage. They hang out in it and play cards. They love it because they call it their space and make it very clear that no adults are allowed.
Maybe the adults should pitch the tent and hang out and we tell the kids that it is our space, NO KIDS ALLOWED!
