Bunk Beds

Bunk beds are the best invention. If you have a small space and want to sleep 2 people, you go for the bunk beds. They allow you to have 2 people sleeping comfortably without taking up the entire room with 2 beds.

Often a cottage will have bunk beds because they have lots of people visiting and want as many beds as possible. Some of the sleeping cabins or bunkies have 2 or even 3 sets of bunk beds in them. The kids usually end up out there and have a great time together away from the parents. The parents are happy in the cottage away from the noise of the kids.

Bunk beds are a real pain to make. The bottom on is hard to make cause you have to duck you head under the top bunk and get the sheets and covers organized. The top bunk bed is almost impossible to make unless you climb the ladder and reach across. Even then you can't really do a great job.

Bunk beds are always in the cabins at camp. Often there are 4 or 5 sets per cabin so they can accommodate all the campers. Usually the mattresses on the bunk beds at camp are really old and have that plastic over on them. At night when it is boiling hot in the middle of July you stick to the mattress. Yuck!

Some bunk beds go one on top of the other but are not parallel. They kind of form a T shape. That way you can fit stuff underneath them. It takes up more room but you can stick a dresser or desk underneath there.

Often bunk beds have a drawer underneath that you can pull out. It saves room and gives you a lot more storage. Another thing you can store underneath your bunk beds is a spare mattress for sleepovers with more then 2 people. That way the 3 person doesn't have to sleep on the floor.

The fun thing about bunk beds for the kids who have them in their room is climbing up the ladder to get into bed. It's a good thing that bunk beds have a railing on the side so you don't fall out at night if you toss and turn.
